SPIKE IN PARASITES THIS AUTUMN COULD COST FARMERS

News agency Stuff.co.nz reports that New Zealand farmers could face significant costs from parasites in autumn 2021.

Farmers could be paid less for their sheep at the works if a spike in parasites in the animals is not managed carefully over autumn, experts say.

A wetter summer has created optimal conditions for parasites to thrive in sheep, with a 25 per cent increase recorded compared to this time last year, data from technology and testing company Techion shows.
